![]() ![]() You'll be using this through most of your first playthrough in NG. But, if you feel you're going to be in it for awhile, do so if you like.Ĭleric's Sacred Chime: This is your starter chime, used to cast miracles. I wouldn't suggest upgrading it, unless you really like the look, and are going to farm the other archdrake pieces later. While it's a bit on the heavy side, it provides high defense, a little poise, and is just right at the start of the game to mix match around with other things you find while staying light on your feet. The archdrake robe: While you don't get the whole set, just this single piece is beast. Its durability will ensure it lasts through long treks of exploring and co op. It's your goto weapon for any small skirmish, but I'd weigh its use carefully when engaging more then one enemy at a time. It can be somewhat clumsy to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, and the move set down, you have a great counter to all heavy armored foes in PvE. This thing just on it's own power can carry you through NG and NG+ on its own merits alone. Rant Over. The mace: Simply the most devestating starter weapon in the entire game. So you gotta swing then stop and just hope they game grants you the critical of not enemy or friends might attack you while your paused. It's very clunky because if you miss the backstab you want to keep swinging but if you keep swinging you don't get a backstab even if you "earned" it. You have to stop and wait for them to hit the ground while other badguy's can attack you then do the critical were it plays a very ugly animation of you missing them between the legs.īackstabs instead of just triggering you have to hit them then stop attacking to get a critical. The parry animation is baffling you Parry they fall down but if you hit them as they fall you don't get a critical hit. I can't trust any messages and it stinks. In 2 the screen is littered with 15 messages in a room and 8/10 are flat out unhelpful or lying to you. I'm 1 and 3 you can trust messages because it's so long after release that the messages are all truthful and helpful plus you only see a few on the map at a time. Very minor problem but messages suck in this game. Imagine designing a system were you permanently lose life from death and a random Overpowerd player can come and kill you. All I had to do was stay hallow ( the ds1 good kind lol) and I can enjoy the game on my own pace.Īs far as I can tell Invasions are 24/7 no way to avoid besides playing offline which I can't do without turning messages off. ![]() I played all of Dark souls 1 without summoning any NPC or Co-op and avoiding invasions popping up. Or I stay hollow and die in 2 swings from everything as if I'm in NG+ or something.Īpparently there's a ring to stop hallowing but Cost 14,000 souls to repair and I'm no doubt many hours away from finding it. Instead of having fun exploring Like in DS1 I'm a nervous □ reck trying not to die and hollow. ![]() Human effigy seems to be a limited consumable and I'm frustrated for Hours after every little mistake. It's making every death way to punishing. IT'S poorly explained in game as I did now what was happening to me. PROBLEM 1ĭark souls 2 main offender is the Life Bar shrinking do to the Hallow mechanic. The only true BS in 1 is Curse but that only can happen in like 2 areas in the entire game. So I'm a little past the Forest Giant boss and there's a lot of things adding up to make DS2 not as fun as Part 1Īlmost nothing in Dark Souls 1 feels unfair to me once you understand the games mechanics and learn the levels everything feels well designed.Įven stuff that's supposed to be frustrating like Sen's fortress are fine as soon as you understand Look for obviously marked traps. ![]()
